The good ones do, anyway. I live in southern New England, which has a HIGH concentration of Portuguese immigrants, and as they age, they usually fall into two categories: fun, easygoing ones who learned how to cook from their grandparents and usually grow up fat and happy and make great housewives, or phony, liberalized greenhorns who go to the gym and fancy themselves independent "girl-bosses", but grow up to be scrawny, bird-like cunts with bi-polar disorder who couldn't cook a mozambique to save their lives.
Obviously, there are exceptions—my sister-in-law is a narcissistic, career-oriented bitch who can't cook, but ended up fat because of a marijuana/alcohol addiction enabled by her husband, but on the whole my observations hold true, at least for the Azores Portuguese which my nieghbors primarily consist of. Demi Lovato is part of the small subset who ended up in the southwest, (which is like the only other region in America where you can buy actual chouriço), but I don't know what the scenario is out there.
