At the time, having enjoyed 1, I was pretty upset because by the time power came back online they were at the barn.

Species 3 felt like a TV Special because of the good ending "the 2 aliens get to be together but I made them infertile so it's fine" and all the teenagers around and the "good" alien not wanting to kill the college teenager. And apparently biology college kids having the ability to modify alien genes with crappy lab equipment.
Species 4 felt like a foreign parody film especially with all the bad accents in it and 10 minute plot max with no pacing.

Don't let the magic black guy find out about the fucking ahead of time. Molina runs out of the room screaming before Sil actually kills him (her transformations aren't instant so he could have gotten her off him and run out in time) so that's their warning. Don't split up the team when they chase her down to the sewers for no reason. Don't have the black guy be retarded about the kid and try to reach out to him (typical schlock tactic to build tension with a dumb audience), the kid can get aggressive immediately. Revise the action sequence so the team has to actually use the situation to their advantage to beat Sil. End the movie with a sombre tone, that she wanted to live and breed just as any of them, and that sometimes survival of the fittest means a dog eat dog world even on an intergalactic scale.
Not a dumb fucking quip about sewers and then la ratta.

I had no idea for 20 years that it was a quadrilogy until the 4th came out and then I watched the 3rd and 4th and got disappointed how they could manage to make what was barely a passing 5/10 film into something even shittier, each movie is crappier than the last.

you barely get to see Justin Lazard/Patrick Ross's normal alien form before he goes full tank mode and it refuses to show the lower half , Species 2 refuses to show a lot of stuff beyond the 1st and 2nd sex scene with the 2nd scene also refusing to show more than tits and a back.
Also despite the cover art none of them go half alien half human mode like Venom with their human heads sticking out neither does the cover art's alien suit look like the final product.

Alien, The Faculty, Species, they all have really small tits barely reaching a C cup. I laughed my ass off during The Faculty scene when this skinny twerp asks "do you like what you see?" I'd like my belt on your ass albeit I have nothing to smack with such a lack of ass. The Faculty also employed a lot of baby-faced looking actors like Frodo which don't exactly scream masculinity, neither were the women actors very womanly, very feminine. When it comes to cute and sex appeal as a combo you need a very specific kind of young traits that make you look healthy, not fish eyed and not "I want to give him/her a wedgie and send her up to her room WITH DINNER so maybe she'll put some meat on that boney ass of hers. EAT SOMETHING."

I'm not sure if it's just the 3 movies or most sci-fi and horror and especially in combination have really bad actor turnouts or just really awful taste producers that are too gay and pedo for their own good.

Sil kills an elderly woman in a car crash that wanted to help her by Sil going into her car naked and then Sil straps her to the bed.
Sil kills the nice guy who paid her hospital bills in a pool no less. Now as someone who doesn't mind gore, but has a phobia of water that shit was way more traumatizing than anything in 2.
Sil only kills "1 asshole" that's a diabetic by tonguefucking him.
Sil also kills the conductor lady who helped her.
Sil is just as autistic and arrogant as the male version who kills just as many innocents as the male version.

Only thing you can say is that the 2nd has more gore and the stupid kids which indeed rubs off a lot of males the wrong way. They noticed it would get too repetitive and removed a lot of gore.

I'd say the 1st one at least had the decency of not showing the bodies aftermath in too gruesome ways, especially the charred old lady, that one is completely offscreen since do you really want to see a charred body on HBO? not sure how the censors worked...

The film has an identity crisis where it's neither sci-fi nor horror nor porn. The girls aren't hot enough and there aren't enough long sex scenes for this to be a porn movie and the sci-fi lore/world-design and writing is too weak to be a proper movie that would rate anything higher than a 5/10.

Everyone accepts this movie as babby's first softcore porn film that came too late to the party to ever be aired in theaters as an intended porn movie. It pales in comparison to other porn films and sci-fi films.
Mainly for 8-12 year olds who didn't have internet at the time to have easy access to porn.

There's a number of directions to go with this film in order to improve it from easy to hard.

And a second or fifth composer if the 1st one doesn't know how to compose for sci-fi
And another director and cameraman who knows how to work with large-scale environments.

And then another writer cause suddenly you might want to turn this into an adventure hybrid story rather than a detective cop thriller. Going from cop thriller to noir is easy ... going from the perspective of the villain also even easier since that's the same damn genre ... going full space exploration adventure? whoah nelly hold your horses we don't have that kind of team.

and on the opposite end ...

Maybe it is because people shy away from horror and the hiring agency was too retarded to look for specific people. Albeit that still doesn't explain a bunch of things during hiring and production.
