How? You mean a “movie star” like Tom Cruise that is a mediocre actor and fails unless he basically plays himself? D’Onofrio has always embraces the craft of acting, intentionally chose a wide variety of roles that allowed him to stretch, even beyond the “character actor” box he’s placed in. He’s also avoided the DDL, etc serious up-hit-own-asshole “method actor” bullshit that clings to some driven to be leading man status. He’s got a solid deserved reputation as a guy that bring kino to whatever project he’s attached to. Gets well paid to do what he loves. Seems based to me.
