in the comics the heroes slowly get killed and turn, it takes several issues
this looks like z-tiers they coincidentally have been trying to push for years just so happen to star in this, where presumably they will get dropped into some boring alternate universe
everyone will already be zombies, they will have a big gorey slapfest, quip a bit, and then find the portal back home
maybe there will even be time for a joke on the way out, maybe someone who was a zombie in the other world is pigging out on food, something quirky, a dubai chocolate bar, and the way they eat is reminiscent of the zombies

in the comics there was no world to escape to, this was the character's real world being slowly turned, there was a sense of horror and dread as the heroes we knew and loved went from fighting the zombies to instantly joining them, complete with their intellect and personality intact, just focused now on hunting and eating the remaining good guys
when reed richards got turned they were FUCKED because he's going to create a portal to fuck you in the ass dimension and destroy the whole world if it increases the chances of them killing and eating you by 1%
of course they will never have the balls to have the turned do anything but zombie yell and maybe use some aspect of their powers, nothing like when the heroes you knew and loved grew horrifying looks on their faces and started threatening the protagonists with real memoires and intellects
and NO I don't just wish it were grimdark, I loved the moments of levity in the comic, when zombie hulk eats a bunch of people and then turns back into banner and his stomach distends and explodes, but he's still a zombie so he doesn't die, so zombie banner is crawling around with his guts blown out, STILL trying to hunt and kill the good guys
