I don't know why this scene cause so much seethe. Superman did all kinds of crazy shit during the Silver Age and the Donner films are inspired on that era. When I was a kid, I didn't have a problem with the S, I assumed Superman has many powers because he's Superman. To be fair, my kiddie self was more interested on the sense of wonder than in loreshit

Why does no one ever bring up the white lasers everybody can shoot from there fingers in that scene? Or the holograms they can suddenly make of themselves?
Did Richard Donner tell the special effects dept "eh just do what you want, we'll put it in there"????
so is superman a genius like batman or what because he seems to have a lot of gadgets
like in the new movie he somehow made a bunch of ai robots and a giant moving block of ice that detects his dna

Well the Fortress was Krypton tech that came with him to Earth and sort of "grew" in the Arctic. The robots in the movie are a hybrid of the Silver Age Superman Robots who were exactly that (robot duplicates of himself he built to fill in for him when he was busy) and the Post-Crisis character Kelex (a robot from Krypton created alongside the fortress). But Superman's generally at least smart enough to know how it all works and maintain it
