I've been thinking a lot about the ships architecture and ergonomics, it's very square and compartmentalized. Even the engine room, which in a lot of scifi media is a large open room, is just another square room that looks like most others where they just interact with stuff behind the wall. I know in the original film they had limited space and budget and had to make everything inside of a soundstage leading to using corridors that could be reused. That added to the claustrophobic feeling of the film ultimately, but it did seem more like a technical constraint. In this show they are obviously wanting to call back to the original as much as possible but it makes it feel cheap. I really can't tell if it's intentional or not. I'm not sure what my point is just mulling on the production design.

I can't get past the first 10 minutes of the first episode. A massive spaceship accelerating with 5 fusion engines from beyond the Moon would impact the Earth with so much energy that it would vaporize that entire city. And instead it gets absorbed by the ground and is allowed to continue to accelerate like the entire planet is made of jello. Fucking black android man just walks out of the wreckage. This is like if Bruce Willis was blown off the asteroid and landed in the Pacific Ocean and swam to safety. Fuck you for not spending 10 extra minutes on the script and editing it to 'Oh there's someone on the ship who at least decelerates it to try and land it.' It's too hard for me to suspend my disbelief, and I honestly feel insulted by the writers who believe that someone even as dumb as me would be able to do so.
