I got banned for two weeks for "trolling" for making what I thought was a pretty innocuous, jokey thread. really wasn't intended to be a troll at all. anyway, I appealed it, and in my appeal linked to several threads that were using basically the same format I did, but that stayed up on the board, and just asked for clarification on why specifically mine was singled out. appeal denied. no communication, no reason given, nothing. it's nonsense. the jannies need to at the very least be transparent and show some consistency in how they apply the rules. the sharty hack was stupid and I don't agree with their methods, but the moderation here learned absolutely nothing from it. all people want is some fucking communication.

Same thing happened to me once. Was in a thread that got a little political, and I got a 3 day ban, but going back through the archive, no one else in the thread got banned. Just me for disagreeing. /ck/ has somehow become one of the worst boards on this site. it's filled to the brim with astroturfed engagement farming threads, troll posts, ruled with an iron fist by powertripping mods, and the only food people post is low effort slop in blogposting threads that don't even try to get a discussion going. what should be a chill, comfy board is just an absolute dump at this point. it's sad.

for the record, I'm not against moderation in general. this site needs it to some extent, or it would just be full of constant schizo spam threads (more than it already is). but there really needs to be some change in how they are doing things, because their powertripping and lack of transparency is driving away all the decent posters and soon all that's going to be left are the schizos that the mods are there to push back against. if I didn't know any better, I'd almost say that's what they want. but I do see them cleaning up some of the worst spam posters, so I don't know what they want. there is just a huge divide between the community and moderators and their vision of the site it seems. it can't go on like this without breaking.
