this ending still makes zero sense. the whole point of the time travel in the movie was that you couldnt change your actual past by going back in time, so you were really going to an alternate timeline. so if captain america went back in time and stayed there it would be an alternate time and he wouldnt show up in this future again

yeah the time travel in this movie theoretically worked like in dragonball z. future trunks going back to the past didnt change his own future timeline, so like you said if he stayed in the past he wouldnt then later show up old in his own future.
