Take the Money and Run and Sleeper. When people claim they like Woody Allen films they are referring to the surreal humor in those two. Then Annie Hall blew up, and Manhattan blew up and he made nothing but shitty romcoms for the rest of his life.

I think Annie Hall is considered his magnum opus. I just watched it recently and while it was pretty creative and clever at times, I personally found it incredibly mid. I might just have a bias against rom coms though. At least it's a digestible length, I'd say it's worth a watch and depending on whether you liked it or not, you can delve into his other films. I still don't understand why it was so lauded at the Oscars or why Diane Keaton won one.
