Le CURAZHEE guy who actually spits facts about society is a tired millennial trope at this point. It's on par with walled harpies on Twitter talking about being a menace to men and not shaving their body hair to own the moids or some shit.

Any attempt to make joker a serious character will be seen as incredibly dated by zoomer audiences which is why it's baffling that Reeves doubled down on Nolan's interpretation of joker, making him an AIDS ridden serial killer with a gimmick. Of course 2019 Joker is even worse in that regard, being the typical work is me self insert for failure, racist millennial men that watch right wing podcasts.

The only Joker I could see working is totally ignoring any modern interpretations plus removing all influence of The Killing Joke, Death In the Family or Frank Millar's TDKR. Basically Mark Hamill's BTAS joker but even more light hearted and goofy, though still with some edge. I would say that even the Joker in the Arkham games is too serious and too edgy. The Joker is not supposed to be this unfazeable guy like in the Nolan's TDK or even the Arkham Games; "You know that is pretty funny". When the Joker is actually facing death he is supposed to act like a little bitch and reveal that he was coping all along with his le insane gimmick (pic rel but also the episode with ace in JLU) or in Joker's favor when a random guy makes Joker piss his pants. He is NOT supposed to be able to handle slicing off his face or be cool with getting raped or some shit because he is just sooooo heckin insane

You've just got to nerf him if you want to make Joker serious gotta go all the way by bringing him down (Joaquin Phoenix's Joker) or going full throttle (The Killing Joke), those are the only real instances of Joker being serious and landing. Joker being serious has always hit or miss because at his core he's a character who's not meant to be taken too seriously, he's the fucking Joker.

Serious joker does not work period. Serious joker is written as a man that has experienced the whole spectrum of trauma that he offers unparalleled insight into the human condition and is otherwise unfazed by all threats of bodily and mental harm. This is contradicted with his whole crusade being entirely juvenile and water is wet tier. "In survival situations, people will act in their own self interest" and "the natural behavior is to seek revenge on those who have harmed you" is entirely self evident and betrays the Joker's apparent unparalleled wisdom and lessons from trauma. He should already know this and therefore not even bother with this crusade at all. The fact that he's so pressed about it proves he has not fully accepted it as the natural reality of the world which is strange given his unparalleled life experience. If he really accepted that people are not selfless this reality would be as easy to digest as water being wet or the sky being blue. He would not bother opposing Batman because Batman's worldview would not be something he would even bother entertaining.

That's why the only Joker who works is the Mark Hamill's and anything lighter. Joker being a copper and a poser that bitches out when he's pressed

The problem is people treating DC and capeshit in general like the gospel. All those nitpicky complaints you see for snydershit are like all the hardcore Catholics complaining about the inaccuracies of the movie Noah and what not. Am I stomping up and down because thing isn’t exactly like what I saw when I was 10 years old? Nope. Pre MCU capeshit was the bottom of the barrel of Hollywood. These projects are risky endeavors, only work out 50%, and rarely “comic accurate”. Like who the fuck is Rachel. The movies and the viewers were self aware about what these things were. But the MCU buckbroke just about everything.

Most people have a terrible sense of humor, especially millennials (the ironic nonsense pseudo intellect type) or Gen Z (nigger tier), both too lame to find the chaotic type of original joker who does shit just for the lols just to mess with people. You can blame The Dark Knight for making the Joker a “deep” type of character when in reality he wasn’t much of a main villain and more of an annoying side character just there to piss off batman.
