Wait, so literally God resurrected Gandalf and promoted him after he got killed in a fair fight against another supernatural being? So God was on Gandalf’s side to the extent that he would bring him back to life, but not enough to help out in any other way? What other deus ex machinas was God prepared to pull but only after maximum suffering of the people fighting for his cause?
If Gandalf the White had just started running towards Mount Doom with his sword out, would God just stand him back up again after he got killed, or did he only have one spare life? Why couldn’t he just immortally fight his way through Sauron’s entire army once it had been established that God was pulling strings for the good guys and wouldn’t really let them fail?
