Awful movie. The japanese director proudly stated he didn't give a flying fuck about the non-japanese actors, and so he didn't bother directing them properly. So they all give terrible awkward performances.

Just download the soundtrack instead, it's good.

Completely missing the point. The movie doesn't fully communicate it as well as the book, but since he felt guilty for not helping his brother when he was persecuted for being different, he was empty and wanted to die. He saw a moment where he could give someone relief while their soul was raging against itself and saved him. Jack wasn't gay, he just gave Yonoi the release he needed.
