But it wasn't "weird". If you're younger than 30 you really can't know what it was because you're viewing it through a completely different lens. It was presented as a reality. At the time no one called them on it. It was just a daytime kids show no one bothered to analyze or review. I remember the weekly TV insert that came in the newspaper had the front page photo of Zack and Slater standing at the lockers about it and called it "a show about insensitive teens". That's it, there wasn't an article, it was just announcing this show was on and they were in high school now.
We can look back on it and it seems weird, but everyone just accepted things before the internet. There was no discussion or awareness of it outside of teen girl rags like Tiger Beat where they had "heartthrob" posters to cut out of these guys. Do they even still make magazines like that anymore? The "Coreys" were all over those things. THAT seemed weird to me even at the time. Because boys I guess had Nintendo Power and Mad Magazine. I have no idea what I'm rambling about. Because I'm a "boomer" in his forties.
