Amazing. Great dialogue pretty much every episode, well written short stories, good performances by olyphant and goggins (pretty much started his career)
Each season has a "main villain" and they are pretty compelling, I think the show got an award for the season 2 villain. Likeable side characters (art, tim), sometimes funny, sometimes suspenseful etc.

Do NOT watch city primeval, it's got that californian sensibility vibe if you know what I mean

when i was debating whether to watch this, the trailer made it seem like raylan was going to resolve every conflict with a gunslinging pistol draw
but after it's the central thing in the pilot, it's actually used pretty sparingly throughout the show and resolutions are varied and interesting

1st season is really good once you get past the procedurals (boyd's return). the rest are watchable but the writing gets worse and lazier as it goes on.

ray ray becomes a villain outright abusing his badge (murders by proxy george mason for ex) instead of just being morally grey and at the same time they try to force boyd into the villain role which does not fit at all

Just watch the pilot, the rest of the series shares that same tone.
It starts as a criminal of the week thing then it moves to busting different gangs, one or two each season with more time for character development
I recommend staying away from city primeval but I haven't finished watching any of it

IIRC he was supposed to die in the pilot, but Goggins killed it so they they decided to keep him around, and they have these weird arcs early on where he tries to be a good boy and have a honest job, that by the end of the show seem utterly ridicoulous and out of character
