It makes sense though.
Why would someone kill their parents and their entire clan at the age of 13? How could someone, even as skilled as Itachi manage to kill an entire clan in the dead of night without the whole village swarming in?
It makes way more sense that someone with a space-time jutsu was teleporting in and helping Itachi kill the clan and that there was a conspiracy - likely Root keeping the village from noticing by taking measures.
Itachi, when acting as a villain, claimed that he wanted to “test himself” by killing his clan. How is it testing himself to assassinate people in the dead of night?
Testing himself would be fighting against a Kage.
Again, it makes zero sense if there isn’t a twist.
Also, if Itachi really wanted a Mangekyo, he would have helped Sasuke obtain the Sharingan first, helped him develop it to the 3 tomoe level, then he would have killed his parents in front of Sasuke in order to obtain the Mangekyo Sharingan.
Obviously, Itachi knows to obtain the Mangekyo, you have to see someone in front of you die that’s important to you. You don’t have to kill someone important to you, otherwise how would Shisui have the Mangekyo?
