Joking aside, I think the tempting notion of an innocent Freddy must have crossed the mind of every viewer at some point. The reboot film seemed to tease the possibility for while, although it did confirm Freddy as guilty in the end (and as a definite pedo). The reboot was okay but if the intention was to rebuild the series on that foundation, that was very misguided. His explicit paedophilia in that version was never going to bring in large audiences of teens.
