Mortal Kombat 1995 most underrated video game adaptation?
Watched this for the first time in 25 years…surprised how entertaining it is

>kino fight scenes, actors do most of their own stunts
>kino soundtrack which fits perfectly
>doesn’t take itself too seriously
>animatronic goro, looks better than a lot of CGI slop these days
>old fashioned 90s CGI which are less bad than a comfy reminder of a better time

It's great, I also really like the 90s street fighter (mk 1 is better though for sure).

It's cool that Johnny and Liu Kang's actors are still buddies to this day.

my favorite memory with my father was him taking me to see this when I was 6.
it was a Tuesday and he pulled me out of first grade to see an 11am showing.
We were the only two people in the theater and my dad asked a guy working there if they could turn the volume way up.
It was so unbelievably fucking loud that even in normal conversation between characters you could hear the shitty seats rattle. When the theme song played it was one of the coolest things I'd ever heard. The whole fucking theater shook and I remember thinking "this is the best day ever"
to this day I get chills down my spine when i hear that song and instantly go back to that day.

fucking love that movie

He unironically killed himself 5 years ago next month.
We had a really shit relationship for most of our lives mainly due to being wildly different people and him not really knowing how to be a dad.
That day at that movie was one of the few times he ever really did anything specifically for me and to spend time with me and I think that's why I hold on to that memory so much.

Like a lot of Paul WS Anderson's movies, it's good spirited fun.

I remember getting the soundtrack for Christmas and blasting it in the garage, my brother and I would kick the shit out of each other pretending we were ninjas.

I'm really sorry to hear that man.

Only thing I didn't like was they Scorpion and Sub-Zero jobbers, at least the Reptile fight made up for it.

Took acid and saw this for the first time in a theater because we heard Juno Reactor did the soundtrack. Was a very good trip.

RIP to your old man, anon. I'm sure he still loved the shit out of you even if he had no idea how to be a father and you struggled to connect over much. People are deeply flawed, broken things.

Also, just for the record, you missed an opportunity to say he used his fatality on himself.
