Low budget, can't do much, also countries in europe heavily subsidize their film industry so a lot of what you see come out of europe is literal government propaganda

I don't agree with OP and I like slowburning movies, but I ABSOLUTELY agree that most French movies are boring and have no point.

I watch European films all the time and usually love them. Spanish, Danish, German. All great, but like 9/10 times I watch a French movie I hate it.

Just watched Elle (sucks), watched a movie about a woman giving birth to a car or something, Titanium or something (sucks). Watched Incendies and saw the "plot twist coming an hour before the reveal (sucks) saw cache (sucked). All Michael Haneke films I've seen suck btw. La Haine sucks too. I could go on for ages.

The only French movie I can think of I enjoyed was Un prophete.

French movies are stupid because French cinema is heavily sponsored by the French government so they aren't incentivised to make stuff that's actually good. That's why they create garbage and call it art.

I agree that looks kinda boring but what is even more weird is how people dicksuck tarantino scenes where the characters yap about milkshakes, burgers, etc.

International or European movies aren't build with a broad audience or mindset in mind. They tend to cater toward specific niches in their communities.

That being said, Germany has Angst, UK has Get Carter, Threads, From Hell, and a bunch of other shit that I like. Italy has Life is Beautiful and many others that I can't name on the top of my head.

France is the face of foreign films. Which is why people think of European films as boring. Because France is the one that comes to mind.
