It's embarrassing how retards who never read past the first half of Fellowship think this slop is somehow superior to the book. Every single deviation from Tolkien makes the story dumber and baser.

medieval style fantasy peaked while Tolkien was still writing and it's been declining ever since
movie watchers with no understanding of the vastness of time will fail to grasp this

the only parts of the book that i recall being worse than the movie are a lot of stuff in the two towers, especially the beginning where you spend like a gazilloin hours reading about aragorn and legolas and gimli walking over hills and dales and hills and dales and hills and dales, then helms deep was kinda weak compared to the film, though it had the benefit of not having the stupid plotline of the elves showing up and dying

A steak and a burger are both beef. And yes, it is easier to argue that a steak is better than a burger. But sometimes I just want a burger.

there are some changes from the book that are improvements also imo

the quality of the movies falls in proportion to the drop in quality of the books as the series goes on

I read The Silmarillion, and it was shit. I'm not going to waste my time reading any of his other work. I expect they're written in the same dawdling style.

Yeah. I get why people would like it. I thought the movies were fine, paced and casted well, and so on. But people who hold them up as some pinnacle are ridiculous. The books are better. The LOTR movies are good for what they are, but they don't really bring the same aura the books do with the way you feel immersed in the world.

What kind of psycho reads the Silmarillion before the Hobbit and LotR?
