Dooku tells Obi-Wan that Sidious controls hundreds of senators in the Republic, that the Trade Federation once worked under him but were betrayed and that the Separatists are fighting him. Dooku never said both sides were being controlled by Sidious, just the Republic, and Obi-Wan rightfully didn't believe him because it was a bad attempt at turning him to the Dark Side and the second he refused he was sent out to die in the colliseum. Furthermore the Jedi were too busy during the war to go investigate what Dooku said, particularly because Dooku never implies it's the Supreme Chancellor that's the Sith, he just says senators are under his control which implies more a rich donor.

The Republic needed an army ASAP to deal with the growing Separatist threat, since after the Ruusan Reformation it had seriously demlitarized. Obi-Wan found the Kaminoans who explained to him that Syfo Dyas, a well-respected Jedi, had visions of the Clone Wars and ordered the army in advance. Why would they suspect anything? When I was a kid people really just dozed through the dialogue and plot-slop and just started paying attention with the action. Revenge of the Sith was well adored in its entirety though, the popular opinion was that the ending of Attack of the Clones was well loved. It's the Phantom Menace that really didn't have much appeal.

George Lucas intuitively does understand what twelve year olds find cool. So even when he flops, he's speaking a kid's language. The new movies do seem to not really land with children at all.

Also the Prequels had a lot of creative ideas and unique designs. Those went right into the games and books and all the other material. The Sequel designs were just all OT rip-offs, and the extended universe now is notoriously shit and onions.

This was my most memorable theatrical experience.
People use to meme picrel but on the big screen, when you were fully immersed in a masterpiece painting of Lucas' mind this was an amazing scene that you have felt through with every fiber and not a single time I thought that it was silly. Because in the context it was two brothers, master and apprentice achieving the highest level of jedi mastery and intuition at that moment, and you were getting it immediately without a single word spoken. It was just the musical and visual storytelling at their best. It was like the constant emotional climaxes over and over again throughout the last hour or so of the movie.
