She was 22 years old when filming for season two, again, to play a 14/15 year old character. Puberty hasn't been kind, and she's bogged and bucced herself.

She will be 25 while filming for Season 3. She will also have the next 2-3 years to hit the wall, do more drugs, tan, smoke, vape, bang half of Hollywood, make bad decisions, overeat and binge, use ozempic, and have all this time for it to catch up to her even harder...so she can portray a 16 year old. Hollywood CGI isn't advanced enough for this.

It's a modern phenomenon to have female characters being the center piece of everything. It's a combo of simp culture and feminism culture.

By now everyone figured out it was another skinwalker adaptation and dropped it. Someone pitched Netflix their show about a teenage detective in a school for superpowered teens. But Netflix didn't have confidence in the premise so they forced in Adams Family characters. It worked the first time. But a weak script and a nostalgia bait IP can only go so far.

Simply put, the show lost it's flair, and a large part of it is because, like a couple of anons said, the length of time in between seasons was too long.

The story was the problem.
The first season was great.
You had a great B plot whodunnit with the hyde, and a great A plot with a satisfying conclusion with Goody Adams.

Season 2 had the framework of the overarching A plot with Slurp, but there was no B plot (unless you count the recycled hyde plot, which was just part of the A plot), just pure filler.
And somehow despite all that filler, most of the supporting cast had nothing to do.
Billie Piper - nothing to do
Enid - nothing to do for the first half
Ajax, Bianca, Dort, Casper Van Dien - nothing to do, that whole morning song storyline should've been scrapped.

They gave the Addams family much more screentime, which wasn't the problem per se.
The problem is that they were mostly again, given nothing to do except chew scenery for most of their scenes, where there was no 'point' to many of the scenes.

One of the episodes where all the Addams had substantial screentime AND a lot of things to do was the camp episode which is why it was so great. That was the episode where Pugsley releases the zombie in the camp, Gomez takes a shower, and Morticia duels Wednesday, great episode with a lot of fun hijinks.

It was an economical episode where every scene was either entertaining or moved the plot or characters forward while world-building.

Every other episode wasted so much time.

The reason the show exists, is because of how well the Barry Sonnenfeld movies did, particularly with the Wednesday Addams Character.
The success of the character had to due both with Sonnenfeld and Christina Ricci, who appeared in Season 1 of Wednesday in a different role.
Ortega isn’t playing the original comic version of Wednesday Addams, or the original TV version of Wednesday, she is playing a slightly altered version of the Sonnenfeld movie version of Wednesday, altered into an angsty teenage girl detective character.
As for the fan desire for a lesbian storyline, the showrunner or actresses, or at least Ortega, seem to have bern annoyed, and basically made a plotline in part 1 of season 2 pointing out the “creepiness” of the “fangirls”.

Piper has the opposite problem in that when they make the next series of Doctor Who, which will be before the next Wednesday comes out especially as they are making a Fester series next to that's probably 6 years away, her profile is going to be massive. It was big enough now, thanks to her being the next Doctor, that what was meant to be an under the radar small role, setting up for a bigger part in series 3, from an actress and singer most Americans hadn't heard of, is now people expecting her to be the main villain of the series. Just like when an actor with a much higher profile than the actor plating the detective in a cop show and its obvious they'll be the murderer.

I just don't get modern television. It takes 2+ years to make one 8-10 episode season. Seasons are short because they're supposed to be focused on the main plotline, but most of the time the plot is so thin writers can't even fill out 8 episodes, so they have to resort to filler, but instead of filling out seasons with X-of-the-week episodes providing a full story intermingled with bits of the main plotline like in the old days, they just produce episodes that don't really feel like episodes, just 50 minutes of pointless scenes one after the other. 10 hour meandering movies chopped into one hour segments without any attempt at making an actual episode with a beginning, middle and end.

Second half of season 2 is better than the first. The split release is bizarre, some storyline gets resolved before the final episode and the original plot doesn't get resolved at all.
They didn't even put Ortega in the dance scene that is the hilight.

I'm not watching this shit until halloween, why is it even out already.

The highlight of the season was the Enid/Wednesday body swap. it was fucking fun to see the actresses play each other, and both goth tsundere Enid and genki Wednesday were fucking kino. They should've based the whole thing around that.

But yeah the main problem is not making these kind of series annual and with twice the number of episodes, Netflix's model fucking sucks. It's all about the idea and never about the execution.

i suspect the reason for this was that if they went into any detail at all about what the cult did, they'd either lose the whole victimhood angle they were going for with bianca and her mom by showing they did legitimately evil shit, or they'd make it look like the cult wasn't even that bad in the first place. frankly, it should have never been a part of the second season in the first place. i'm sure they could have thought up another way for steve buscemi to be a bad guy

To generate more discussion they should have made some more bold choices that could spark a controversy among normies like for example, making Agnes actually a stalker in love with Wednesday or making the incest between zombie boy and crazy woman explicit instead of just implying it.

> everyone has to be a secretive asshole to give Wednesday her dry and sharp comments (to the point you find the protagonist of the show insufferable)
> too many meaningless things going on (aunt Ophelia, Morning Cult, Zombie guy, Hyde family, Asylum arc, Wednesday trying to recover her powers, Wednesday trying to avoid Snoods death premonition...)
