This is the key point. Back then the mentally ill were kept either in institutions or were kept at home, yelling into the void. At worst they'd find a street corner to stand and yell at passersby, who'd chuckle.
Now with social media the screetch autistically all the time. Loudly. And the media and politicians look at social media and think "oh, this is what the people want" and then bow before the crazies. This is why we have a collectively mentally ill western world where people castrate the children for social points and invite the third world to invade and rape and pillage as they want.
