Boardwalk Empire and The Sopranos both go out of their way to demonstrate how the criminals therein ultimately lead hollow lives filled with regret. Peaky Blinders on the other hand goes out of its way to glorify the criminals it depicts as larger than life badasses who the audience is clearly meant to be rooting for. They're not really comparable.

When I was watching the early seasons of Peaky Blinders, it made me think of the Sopranos a lot.
The later seasons (after covid) get really pretentious and "style over substance" however while also trying to harp about fascism bad at a coincidental time in American history.

So the first season of Peaky Blinders was trying to be a prestige historical drama like Boardwalk Empire, about life in post WWI Birmingham.

After the first season, they decided to jettison all of the prestige components and transformed the show into a crime family soap opera for a female audience, using basically the same formula as Sons of Anarchy.

i agree with that guy that it's basically sons of anarchy but in britain post ww1. all the exact same flaws

He's quite representative of the people in the british east India company who climed the gleasy pole aqnd bought big estates in the UK alongside most industrialists in the UK.. Charlie Chaplin came from a rough background as well.

I like the show but each season has so few episodes that they're forced to rush the plot. Each episode, things just happen off screen and it becomes the crux of the conflict for that episode. I like all the characters though so its still good
