The Rock’s approach seems to be playing it safe, continuing his invincible, straight man, and untouchable persona. If he truly wants Oscar recognition, he needs to take risks: playing a gay character with explicit scenes like being fucked in the ass, being bisexual, gay kiss, being gay, having gay scenes who hurts his straight ego and sexual comfort, losing fights, and showing real vulnerability, rather than hiding behind makeup or sticking to his usual untouchable straight man image.
