I remember catching hype for this show as a kid but I could never catch an episode so it became this mysterious lost media tv show for me.
>>214383180 >it became this mysterious lost media tv show for me
There's nothing 'lost media' about it. I have it on dvd. Both the original limited Miniseries, and the tv show.
It's utter garbage. Doesn't anywhere close to approach the level of the James Gurney book. It should've been done as a big-budget movie, or series of movies.

The miniseries was absolute kino, I'm still to rewatch that for over 15 years though. Still have watch the canceled 2002-03 single season show as well. Also still disappointed it never got a big film adaptation and now we're four films deep into Jurassic World trash.
>>214382958 (OP) >Why did they pick a mid chick with a giant forehead to be the main girly
All of the main actors were just really bland. None of them were attractive or charismatic enough. It'd make you wonder if that was really the best they could get. Maybe it was?
>>214384245 >Still don't know what to think of Gourney saying Lucas ripped off Waterfall City for Naboo.
I lived through this period, and that's exactly what I was thinking of when I saw Episode 1, before Gurney had said anything. Visually, it was more like Dinotopia than previous Star Wars. Dinotopia was such a breath of fresh air when the book was first published. Nothing in the mainstream looked like it.

Which will Hollywood tackle first: Dinotopia, Dinosaurs Attack, or Dinoriders?
Considering how successful even the shlockiest Jurassic World movie has been, these should be a sure thing.
>>214385063 >I think big studios don't want to make that because the Jurassic franchise has the monopoly on the dino adventure genre.
That makes no sense. Remember when Fox was doing Independence Day, and WB did Mars Attacks. Paramount was doing Deep Impact, so Touchstone did Armageddon? Pixar had a CG ant movie, so Dreamworks did too, then they were doing CG Fish movies, and then animated rat movies. Dante's Peak vs Volcano. Why should any studio allow another to have a monopoly on something inherently commercial like dinosaurs.
>>214384893 >Dinosaurs Attack
When tim burton bought the rights to mars attacks, he got the rights for dinosaurs attack in the deal. If mars attacks had done better he probably would have adapted dinosaurs attacks, which would have been great because I had these cards as a kid because "LOL DINOSAURS!" and looking at them and wanting to puke. Shit was cash.

Doesn't help that Lucasfilm was apparently looking into a Dinotopia adaptation for a brief moment before the Star Wars prequels.

He actually wanted to to Dinosaurs Attack instead of Mars as a consolation prize for not getting Jurassic Park, but when JP came out he ended up kneeling and deciding no other dinosaur movies should be made ever again like the rest of Hollywood.

George Lucas stole the design of thebes in Naboo from Waterfall City and the gunman sub fish scene is stolen directly from Dinotopia 2: journey to the core. George Lucas bought the rights to adapt Dinotopia so James Gurney couldn't sue.
>>214383822 >still disappointed it never got a big film adaptation and now we're four films deep into Jurassic World trash.
George Lucas had the rights but he stole Gurney's best design ideas for Naboo in Episode 1. Dunno who owns the rights now.

Shame, but I don't know if he could have gotten away with it, Mars Attacks has plenty of gore, but its a lot of people getting zapped with rays and turned into skeletons and ash (and just ignore the whole proto EDF part of the card series where they supersize a bunch of bugs to terrorize cities).
You can try to drop the washington monument boyscouts, but I don't think you can have dinosaurs eating children without being rated XXX.

I'm glad that the black cat lived. I had a black cat who died two years ago and I miss the fuck out of him. I had never loved an animal like that before.

Believe me anon, I was an autistic child who knew everything about dinosaurs and it has taken me most of my life to not seethe about it.
Besides, they're all being controlled by evil future dino-aliens from hell, or something
>>214386613 >he doesn't know the lore
Lucas was involved in the 90s project to make a big dinotopia film but that was killed in the crib and eventually the rights went to Hallmark that made the miniseries in 2002
