Dexter Resurrection is skinwalking the OG Dexter. At a cursory glance it may appear to be the same show you know and love, but upon further inspection you soon realize that it holds none of the substance that elevated the original beyond being popcorn flick-tier. It's merely a pale imitation of what the show used to be, which is good enough to please most fans who only had a surface level enjoyment of Dexter (including the swaths of zoomers who consumed the show piecemail via tiktok edits).

At first I was stoked on Uma appearing in this unexpected context. Then I was disappointed during the last two episodes when she finally had more than a second of dialog, and it appeared she was trying to inappropriately invoke the tryhard bad bitch persona from Kill Bill. But as the finale progressed, and it became unavoidably clear we had fully entered a new era of stupid campy Dexter, it kind of made sense. I fully expect she will reappear in S2 along with her all-female squad of Vagina Force operators in tactical bikinis to hunt down Dexter who is now in hiding in the Bahamas. The fan service will be majestic.
