There's been constant bitching about how the blood slides are gone from the pedestal and how that would be a hint about Dexter being the BHB, yet so were several other items. Same as the files. A bunch of serial killer files are gone, but at least half a dozen remained on the floor.
Seeing as how there were at LEAST six different serial killers from Miami represented in the vault, including an empty pedestal for the BHB slides, offhand it would look like Prater was expecting to put the slides on the pedestal, and had been collecting an unusual amount of serial killer stuff from Miami. Batista being dead in the vault would make me think that Batista was the connection between Prater's collection and Miami.
I hate to shit on Batista like that, but he now looks like a dirty cop feeding Prater's serial killer fetish for money who retired after swiping the BHB blood slides with plans to sell them to Prater for a huge chunk of money.
Still, Prater got all that Miami killers memorabilia from somewhere. Quinn would not be above swiping old evidence from dead cases and selling it for money. It fits his character.
