whole Weapons should be like the finale. It lacked tension overall desu. Good but Barbarian was much better and from this year Hallow Road, Bring Her Back, Together and Sinners were better too. Julia Garner was incredibly beautiful in that bar scene tho

Thinking about it though, I keep going back to the intro. It says there was a crime that was so obvious, it was covered up because everyone in charge was embarrassed they didn't figure it out.
The kid was also shown as being bullied and quiet. Makes me think she represents the media. It stuns people, turns them to zombies, makes them hate each other at the snap of their fingers, all the while their kids are planning to shoot up a school under their nose.

It is an autobiographical detail. The director character is a self-insert for Dario, who came up with this movie after he got fired from an opera production he was directing on account of it being too violent. Leaving the opera house and going to the Swiss Alps (the site of his previous film, Phenomena) is for me him expressing that he is going back to where he belongs as an artist. You will notice that too in the final scene the director character is filming a fly, a reference to JCon and her bugs in Phenomena. The fakeout death scene in the burning house is lifted directly from the novel Red Dragon. Dario was mad that Michael Mann didn’t use it for his “Manhunter” adaptation of the novel so decided to do right by it. I believe the ending with Betty and the lizard is another self-insert moment for Dario. Contrary to the memes about him being a sadist he is a vegetarian and likes animals. Betty helping the lizard and stating her desire to escape society and not go back to doing operashit, I think it is the director talking through her mouth. His father died during the production so he was overwhelmed and wanted to be alone.

An interesting idea, but a weak execution and a juvenile script. George Romero was 67 years old when he made this and it feels like it was made by a particularly edgy college student for their first film.
I did enjoy what I perceived as a Resident Evil reference towards the end, using the security cameras to show static angles.

Also, it's horse shit the way he said the casting of the black lead in Night of the Living Dead was just a coincidence, that the only black guy in all of Pennsylvania happened to be the best man for the job and that there wasn't meant to be a political message behind it. Every single movie in this franchise so far has a black hero character who plays the voice of reason and represents the racial aspect of society. I don't believe for a second that the first movie is just coincidence when he clearly writes liberal politics into every other movie.

If I rank the films by my own personal enjoyment it goes Alien > Prometheus > Covenant > Romulus > 3 > Aliens > Resurrection.
I've seen all the rest 5 times minimum (except for Covenant which is new so only 3 times), but Resurrection only twice ever, and that only to see the differences between the theatrical and special edition. I don't like Joss Whedon's writing at all and I don't like Jean-Pierre Jeunet's direction at all. I didn't like Amélie either. For an Alien movie, it was all wrong, all wrong. It's just mindless stupidity in service of quips and nonsense. Walmart bought out Weyland Yutani? How moronic. Joss Whedon stinks.

I used to like it but now not so much, it really de-emphasised the psychosexual and /hor/ elements. Plus in terms of visual autism, it seems like there is no definitive release of the film... Cameron being the tech-fetishist that he is used a brand new experimental type of film stock that turned out to be shit and was almost immediately discontinued, it looked like crap and was only used on a couple of movies... and of course his endless attempts to remove all the shitty visual noise and artefacts has made the film look even worse with every subsequent release. So to start with on VHS it looked like absolute muck, and now on the 4K it's the opposite, it's just AIslop, everyone is a polished plastic doll. And they're all just messed with, the blu ray, dvd, 4k, all have different colours. JimCam seriously pisses me off, he does this with all of his movies. For me 35mm scans can sometimes be a meme because they're usually too dark and aren't really how they would have looked in theatres but for Aliens, the only way I would bother watching it anymore is a 35mm scan, just because Cameron hasn't gone and put AI crap on them.

It's okay, and I would have liked to see Reese used more with her connection to the original. Nothing about the movie is even above average, except pre-House Jennifer Morrison doing a lot of heavy lifting. It's not a bad movie, just very straight down the line, 5/10. Hell, it even has the retarded look alike brother/twin that nobody knows out cliche.
