Just finished watching S2 and it came off as very Feminist and mean spirited in much of the writing. Comstantly putting men down off handly and they also notched up Wednesdays bitchyness by a ton. She used to always be sardonically detached but this season she's downright aggressively mean spirited to almost everyone she talks too. Total mood kill. Overall I thought it was decent but a step down from S1. If they can hire new writers who don't have blue hair and sand in their vag about anything male, I might watch the next.

28 million views, would probably be the equivalent of $400 million at the box office if the show were a movie.
“Down 43%” means that around the equivalent of 15% of the US population may have watched the show.
As for why the wait between seasons, it probably has to due with other projects from the leads of the show. Ortega and Myers were both in other projects between the first and second season, with Ortega in at least 6 movies, and Myers in three movies and a British TV show between seasons.
Tim Burton directed Beetlejuice 2 (starting Ortega), between the two seasons, and he’s the showrunner and also directed a bunch of episodes of Wednesday.
Given how frequently Netflix cancels shows after 1 season, nobody likely knew a second season would even get made, so all the important cast members had to be scheduled for, and it’s not like Ortega or Myers could easily be dropped from the cast.
The same crap used to happen with British shows were a certain number of episodes would be ordered, made, and broadcast, before a second season was ordered, so some shows had large gaps between seasons. Lovejoy is a good of this.

As far as US broadcast TV used to go, shows could get cancelled at any time, even midseason before a storyline was finished, or even before all the episodes that had been shot were even aired.
The actors on those US broadcast TV shows could also wind up suddenly out of work, with little warning because of this, although I suspect main actors actually had contracts guaranteeing full seasons worth of work, or at least a full season of paychecks, given how many leads on shows that got cancelled would wind up on another show from the same network, or on another show produced by the same studio or production company.
By constantly cancelling crap, Netflix basically can’t easily guarantee access to thr same actors quickly.
Amazon used to have the same issue when they started making shows for Prime. (Sneaky Pete is an example amongst others).

Buffy will be able to survive it because they already kind of did that. Willow was gay and Faith got canonically blacked. It all depends on how subtle they are about stuff.

That said, i did try to read the remake comic and boy that was awful. Just awful. I dropped it when they basically expected Xander to sacrifice himself for no reason. Whoever was writing that shit didn´t seem to understand how friendships work.

The key to the success of the show is going to be the writing. Can they get someone as good as Joss used to be?

No, no, he was. Even if he peaked at Buffy and Angel the show achieved remarkable balance between mundane life and the supernatural stuff and his character development work was still hold to this day.

I´ve read they have expressed interest in bringing back dead characters like Anya, Tara and Cordelia, that´s honestly more worrisome to me than making a character gay coded. For better or worse dealing with loss is important for characters to grow up. Undoing stuff is never cool, events should have consequences or otherwise everything is meaningless.

This show being worth of our time or just another cashgrab capitalizing on a brand name and nostalgia will all depend on the writing.

If they do though, I figure they might resolve the Enid thing pretty quick. Maybe even start of the first episode, to get the fan favorite character back on screen. However, what are the chances that they'll give her enough control over her transformation to see her walking around and talking as a wolf? Too much work on the effects team maybe?
