I never understood people thinking

Debates are a sort of sport, they have rules, it's a bit like the law, you may be guilty but get off on a technicality, etc. Also, the kind of people who engage in "debating" usually don't have the capacity to actually defend themselves in actual, real life conflict, so they use this to cope. Not to mention that they're always weird losers that overcompensate being freaks or immoral, or having been opressed their entire lives, by learning "technical" ways to """"win"""" at a conversation.
