Harry Potter is my favorite franchise and I consider it almost a masterpiece, sadly JK Rowling didn’t revision her draft and decided to release it without improving it, leaving us the reader, a world filled with plot hole that ruin the atmosphere and setting. One of thosehole is the rememberball. Neville receives from his grandmother just before his first flying lesson. The ball warns its owner when they forget something by turning itself red. At first we don’t think much about it but in truth this item saved Neville life.When we are first introduced to it, Neville is in the mess hall surrounded by the other students showing them his ball turning red, mentioning that the problem is that he doesn’t remember what he forgot(what comic relief). We, the smart viewers, can realize that Neville is the only student not wearing his robe, giving us some hope that he might he punished or at best expelled. In the following scene, we get to the flying broom lesson in which we can see that Neville finally remembered that he forgot his robe. Sadly, that robe saved him from his fall which would not have happened if he didn’t have the broken overpowered rememberball which is NEVER used or referenced ever again in the whole franchise. Such an item don’t seem to belong to the wizarding world and looks to me like an element that was added AFTER the story was already written. I believe that JK Rowling wanted to let Neville Longbottom fall to his dead, letting Harry know about the danger in Hogwarts, Neville was supposed to be the first victim in Hogwart. I suspect that the editor was a Neville and forced Rowling to re-write her story which she did. That is why Neville play such a small part in the next movies. Perhaps if Jk Rowling didn’t fold, we wouldn’t have to endure Matthew Lewis horrible acting in the following movies. Also, fun fact, he isn’t wearing fake teeth, fat suit or fake ears in the first movie. His character look exactly like his childhood actor picture.

yes and why wouldn't you claim to be? you get perks while you are at school (more time for exam, you can even bring the book material to do the exam, and you get a whole room for yourself so you can concentrate, ya even in university)

agreed, in book 4, moody has an item that point towards "bad plans", but sadly in the school it just goes in a frenzy pointing everywhere. the ball should always be red, but its not a real item, its a plot hole made by jk rowling. just like for example in tome 2, how did dobby know where harry lived, and why would he go to harry instead of dumbledore about a danger concerning hogwarts.but i want to focus on matthew lewis, which shouldnt be in the movie, he isnt a good actor

That was because he wasn't the real moody, anon, the device was spazzing out because he was an imposter keeping moody drugged in his trunk and plotting to kidnap harry and revive voldemort
