just play Dark Forces, without context. it's like Doom, except you can look up and down (PgUp/PgDn keys).

No. It's trash for stupid toddlers. All of it. George Lucas is a faggot race traitor sellout hack. Star Wars fans are subhuman morons.

Everyone should watch the original and prequel trilogy just as a point of basic western cultural literacy, like how it's important to read the works of Shakespeare even if they're of middling quality as literature.

But I wouldn't recommend really "getting into" Star Wars in terms of watching all the ancillary animated shows, etc.

I want to hear your opinion on why Shakespeare is middling quality literature, and what you think is better.
I'm not being a smug prick. I genuinely want to hear your point of view.

The only reason people think it's bait is because Shakespeare has such name recognition that niggers who don't read don't want to seem stupid by admitting they haven't read him, so they have to treat any negative opinion about Shakespeare as heresy/stupidity.
I've read a few of his plays and Shakespeare's shit is full of men debasing themselves before women.
Before jewish hollywood, this anglo managed to already be pushing out feminist trash.

If you enjoy the first film, maybe you'd like the whole series, if that one doesn't do anything for you, skip it.

It's a kid's movie, so go into it with that mindset, it's just supposed to be a cool space adventure.

there wasn't 'a' Shakespeare. not really fair to judge Shakespeare like it was one author.

Star Wars has been dissected to death, but they spun straw into gold.

pretty hokey, cheesy/camp pew-pew 70s nonsense. director had a fuckton of script treatments about the Grand Royal Family of Grund'yrr IV like he's fuckin Tolkien.

end result was a perfectly enjoyable children's film, right on the knife's edge. imagine if they had put out exactly the same film, but with a wacky 70s electronic score.

Lmfao, are you fucking kidding me? Shakespeare is not "middling quality" in the slightest, and Star Wars should only be watched as pop culture entertainment, not some misunderstood cornerstone of western pillars of value or whatever.

Star Wars proves Aristotle's Poetics wrong. it is simultaneously Comedy. Tragedy, AND Satyr Play (in the prequels) all through the lens of Spectacle.

Watch the first six movies as two unrelated trilogies, give rogiue one a spin and if you absolutely must watch teh froce awakens and then stop

Never ever ever watch the last jedi or the rise of sywalker or any of the TV shows. The first three are famous and were loved for good reasons, the second three are worth it because there are some good actors and a cracking John Williams sountracka nd there are moments of kino.

Rogue one is not awful and if you like sci fi why not

The rmeainder is an abomination, the last jedi is one of the worst films ever made and will be remebered as such by anyone who has the misfortune to see it for decades, Really, don;t bother watching it to even find out why. The TV shows are all mediocre dross of one flavour or the other and yur time is better spent elsewhere, Some people liked the cartoons titled star wars clone wars by Geoge Lucas, I am not a big animation fan with rare exceptions and they are really just high budget childrens TV.and while one of my kids liked them, I thought they were a bit meh. The individual pictured Rey, is a shalloow pointless incomprehesible girlboss that no one in their right mind could get invested in a s a character and by the end of the force awakens you've seen it and are about to step off a cliff into an abysmal mess that followed. Star wars is dead .

I know these simple battle droids are supposed to be stupid but this is ridiculous - they all have ranged weapons and the Jedi do not, so why the fuck would the stupid clankers close the distance?

Why?
Anonymous No.214457948
If you're being sincere, watch the first three films in order. There's a very good reason as to why these films have resonated the way that they did and understand that there is more to them than just spectacle and spaceships. There are very deep underlying themes that permeate throughout the entire saga that speak to you on a subconscious level and excites you in the same way the stories and legends of old excited your ancestors. George nailed it out of the park with the first film in that regard.

If you like it enough to watch the prequels, keep in mind that there was a 16 year period where there weren't any films or mainstream subsequent media, so games, books, comic books and of course toys filled that void and keep interest. There is an immense rich treasure trove to dive into in all directions; you are literally spoiled for choice. The video games alone were groundbreaking; there was a period in time when LucasArts just kept releasing banger after banger, up to and including non-Star Wars media like Monkey Island and of course, Indiana Jones.

I would watch the prequels as well to round out the story. Forget everything else even if you don't go further and at least watch the movies and movies alone and judge their merits upon your own tastes. Above everything else, its a very significant piece of cinema history which effects are still being felt today.

Good luck, anon.

I wouldn't say I'm a big SW fan (I've seen most but not all the movies), but a friend recommended Rebels and I started watching that in the middle of the first season. Some pretty cool fun stuff in that show.

I remember being really disappointed with TFA, not knowing that would be the high point of the sequel trilogy. TLJ was the first Star Wars movie I thought about walking out on (and I wish I had). I only got about 10-15 minutes into RoS before I did actually walk out of the theater. Good lord but those were shitty films.
