I think its up to 38 volumes at this point, but you can just go to any pirate website to read it. Keep in mind the anime doesnt adapt everything, and the manga is in hiatus with the author about to release new chapters (he posts frequently on xitter) so at last watching the whole anime then contuining in the manga is a must

You're on the 2nd best arc. After greed island arc shit get REAL. Total tone shift. Masterpiece of an arc.

I was in a similar position to you a couple of years ago, and unfortunately couldn't find anything similar to scratch the itch once I finished it, so here's what i tried and how i felt about it.

YuYu Hakusho is by the same manga artist but it seems like a prototype to HxH with similar cast, watching it felt redundant.

Made in Abyss, Tower of God, Magi and The Promised Neverland starts great but quickly loose their footings. MiA is an edgefest, ToG and Magi are messy and incomprehensible, PoN outlast its welcome.

Dragon Ball and Naruto earlier arc are fantastic but as soon as Goku and Naruto became teenagers/adults they drop the adventure part and turn into a very generic battle shonen.

Shows that kinda scratch that itch for me even tough they're different Future Boy Conan, Dragon Quest Dai no Daibouken, Kemono Jihen, Parasyte: The Maxim, Ranking of Kings

nothing has the autism of HxH, just read the manga, the current long ass arc is some of the most interesting shit I have ever read. just don't forget to find the chart on google, you will need it with the 100 different plot-significant characters

Honestly, nothing. The positives and negatives of HxH add up to a really unique piece of media. Its a shonen but it doesn't really feel like any other shonen out there. I think its because every arc is so insanely different from each other and altho there is a story and plotlines and characters that connect the arcs, they feel pretty stand alone from each other because of how diverse they are.
The arc most people label as the best doesn't even get the protagonist any closer to his goal. Its literally a side story that balloons into this insane tale.
And the current arc completely ditches Gon and Killua to focus on Kurapika in this mix of horror, political intrigue and death games.

The longer it goes after that, the more obvious it becomes that Gege cannot write to save his life.

Which really, should've been obvious after it's revealed that Kurapika's power is he masters all powers when he's angry.
Which is just legitimately one of the dumbest, 'I'm 12 years old and this is my sonic OC' level of writing.
There's similar stupid shit with the main villain of the ant arc, with all consequences being taken back in that same arc, and with bungee gum man later on in the manga.

If what you liked about it was the power system and the general globe-trotting adventure feel, yeah, you're basically out of luck.

Try Frieren (much more slower paced/slice-of-life-y, but the action and mechanics of it all are pretty good, ignore retards who tell you it's bad because it's popular)
Try the original dragonball. And preferably the manga, the anime is unbearably paced. Dragonball Z is where it starts to lean into power levels instead of interesting strategic fights and powers.
I would not recommend Jujutsu Kaisen. There's basically no real rules or coherence, all of it is just the author making shit up as he goes along.
Chainsaw Man MAYBE. But it falls off hard after part 1 to the point that people barely remember it exists nowadays.

Oh, and obviously Naruto. Like Dragonball, it completely devolves into shitty power levels after Shippuden, but the first part/original is as good if not better than HxH. Also the anime is ALSO horribly paced, like DBZ.

I enjoy when shonen get super technical about their power systems like JJK or World Trigger, but none get close to the sheer autism levels of Togashi. Unfortunately HxH is as good as it gets in that regard. Also once you're done be sure to check out the manga, the current arc has been going on for like a decade and it's gonna be a miracle if he finishes it but it's the best arc so far.

The mangaka totally lost the plot and rather loves to lose himself in totally useless small details instead of simply progressing the story. Lost all interest. Naruto and Jujutsu Kaisen take significant influence, but neither are as good as HxH. The 1999 show is better than the 2011 show, but it stops at Greed Island, the arc after where you currently are.
In the manga, Hisoka is killed by Chrollo, but managed to set up a trap to resuscitate himself with his rubber Nen, and promptly kills Kotorpi and Shallnark, so the rest of the Spiders are after him. The Spiders formed in the past because they got together as a dubbing troupe for Power Rangers when they were kids.
Leorio doesn't do much for most of the series, but has a big moment using Nen to punch Gon's dad.
Gon burns up all his Nen to transform and kill a villain two arcs from where you are, so he has to use Killua's tranny brother to use xir wish-granting power to heal him.
Gon goes back home to his aunt and Killua fucks off to protect his troon brother from the rest of the family.
Kurapika is the main character now.
New batch later this year after JJK sequel ends.
