I'm gen x and I thought it was really well done too, that and Copenhagen cowboy are the best series that have come out in the last few years.

Sort of, it's got more space to be weirder but at the same time it has a coherent and engaging plot. It's a good blend of what Refn is best at in my opinion.

Every shot sits for at least 10 seconds. They are beautiful shots though.
Entirety of episode 2 is in Spanish if you can handle it, its also my favorite episode.
A lot of the cop scenes and its "comedy" is some of the worst things ive ever seen though. All of that should be cutout

The shows just boring as fuck. Refns style works well when it's confined to a 2 hour film but 10 episodes each an hour long is too much when half of each episode is people sitting in silence staring at each other

Yeah I finally got around to watching it about a month or so ago and it was fantastic. Refn can go overboard at times with the slow tracking shots or there were a few times where a shot was overly blurred out for longer than it needed to be but it was still a great show all around. All the characters are interesting ye
>>214475328
I like Refn's narratives and themes and his use of colors and tracking shots, so I was a fan of the show.

Episode 2 is underrated for sure. The Don rambling about the same story from his childhood in between bouts of falling asleep and slowly dying hit hard if you've ever had an elderly family member pass.
>>214476995
Drive might be his worst film. And while colors and slow tracking shots are used a lot aesthetically, and oedipal themes and themes of morality and redemption, many of his films are indeed different. Valhalla Rising and Drive aren't even that similar. Drive and OGF isn't similar outside of Goose being autistic.

>>214477061
OGF is my favorite, then ND. I liked the second episode but the third might be my favorite but I'm going back through them making collage grids so it might be recency bias for that one. John Hawkes and Jena Malone are kino on their own and spectacular together.

Yeah those were the worst. I thought the LT's intro scene with the dice was good in episode 3 but after that it was just annoying. I suppose it was a good method to show Martin moving outside of the fake and gay civilization toward his own brutal instincts and the philosophy of Viggo.

I actually really enjoyed the cop scenes. The LT trying to get Martin to go back to work by saying Jesus recovered from a stab wound after three days was hilarious to me.

Diana is a hippy dippy California mystic type who can communicate with "the spirits" or whatever that give her information on bad guys and insight of others but works within the framework of cosmic balance. Yaritza puts on airs of an avenging angel type entity that has come down to enact righteous retribution but it could be an angle. Main themes are how modern society and civilization has restricted brutal impulses and how fragile the cover of civilization can be.

Yeah this time around I noticed the hiring posters prominent on the wall led into the prank the other cops were doing with a fake applicant in the next scene; and I liked the whole bit about the ducks from Viggo's code.

Cool grid although it's not just shots from the show but composites and BtS stuff as well. It doesn't seem to have any theme for the image locations though, atleast to me.

Episode 4 was great, watched that through twice tonight, once grabbing screenshots and once uninterrupted. I took too many grabs for a 3x3 grid it's going to be hard to decide.
