i have both figures in the game there are wooden beings too. i imagined a normal hag when i first watched it. the old lady at beginning of the movie that they interviewed that looked like a hag described her as hairy with hair like a horse tho but i didn't pay attention.
hey maybe she lied since she was saying a lot of bullshit.
not seeing her during the film was a good choice because your imagination will always be less goofy and more scary if you are really immersed.
in the 2016 sequel, the monster is a zombified and possessed Elly Kedward, her limbs are like that because she was tied to a tree with heavy rocks tied to her limbs. the fact that it looked like the figure was a cool surprise. even the wooden variant can be explained by her being tied to the tree for a long time and maybe fused with it. online shorts and the second film insist that Elly Kedward was innocent tho but not everything is in a singular canon
whatever it is it's really ancient, the natives had old stories about it too in the lore. maybe it's just the forest that's sentient or some evil entity/powerful monster lives there.
maybe the filmmakers sent McFarlane concept arts they had for future projects or cancelled, but since Lionsgate took total control of the franchise before the first film released, it was probably from their studios.
