The gun he uses was a gift from a business partner in Arizona who showed him the Southern philosophy of self reliance and standing up to problems, and he adopts that philosophy as a way of gaining back control of his life, which inspires others to do the same.
Eli's version is just "you killed my wife, now you die" with a few dumb kills and nothing else

I didn't say the sequels, I said the original. Even slop for slop, the Death Wish sequels lean way more into that to still make for entertaining schlocky 80s/90s action, while Eli's Death Wish has such a slow, gloomy tone, it doesn't even offer a fun "bad movie" experience

Finally saw this one and it really felt like watching a playthrough of a 00s first person point-and-click horror games like Scratches.

3's problem was that they had a brilliant set up and then most of the film was people walking around looking at walls, though it does get pretty campy [and better] at the end.

Just finished the Long Night. The film wasnt executed that well but I liked the plot.

Devil Fetus was a lot like Seeding of a Ghost. Most of it is really boring drama scenes with no tension, and then randomly you get extremely cool Hong Kong style SFX scenes that make it worth sitting through. You could honestly just fast forward to them.
Also they may have killed a German Shepard for real to make this. They definitely kill a chicken.

Watched 3 horror movies this morning. Here's my brief pointless thoughts:

>Body Snatchers (1993)
It takes from the original and remake at times. I liked it, but it's nothing special. There is a bit of nudity, so that's nice. If you enjoy the body snatcher plot, give it a watch.
>Onsen Shark Attack
This was just bad, but I can see people enjoying it because the effects are horrible, and the entire plot is just retarded. If you like the webm, then give the movie a watch.

It's a big bag of meh. Would I watch it again? No. Was it perfectly watchable? Yes. The main lesbian couple having an adopted black baby definitely didn't help. Did laugh when she realized her phone is missing before her baby. Give it a watch if you want, as it's a 4.5/10 movie.

I just switched off this shitty movie.
It wasn't horror, it was annoying as fuck. I hated every character (there's only 5), even the so-called "victims".

I'm not really into mean-spirited sick shit, but there was something about the small-town conspiracy setting and the looming dread of being set up and picked apart one by one that I found really endearing.
Eli Roth must be a real oaf though because he didn't really care to flesh out that aspect of the film and he merely wanted to move ahead to the butchering.
There's an interesting scene midway through the movie where the protag, having lost contact with his friends and already growing somewhat suspicious, enters his room to find another set of women ready to beguile him using the exact same lines and mannerisms as the ones he had previously met.
But that goes absolutely nowhere and isn't utilized as a plot point. The protag just trudges on around town not knowing what's up.
