Taylor is a cautious carefully planned out woman. Cats was one of the most popular musicals ever, the movie was directed by a director who already had success adapting a musical to the screen (les Misrables) , the creator of the musical Andrew LLoyd Weber was involved in the project and they had a big budget. On paper it should have been at least a moderate success it was a good choice for her to get involved with.
