I liked this show until season three. It's an absolute disaster from then onwards.

Before it was programming that made the clones loyal to the Emperor over the Jedi. Now that programming is put into a plot device. Clones that didn't feel as close to the Jedi or don't have as much willpower don't even feel their influence. It makes them act out the commands subconsciously where they come up with their own justification. Clones with more willpower can notice and fight it. Now tell me what does this retcon?

My problem is not the chip retcon itself. My problem is the story arc it’s in service of. Why would someone write that the Jedi learn all of these things and then choose to do nothing about it because they’re worried about public opinion? The government is compromised by their greatest adversary, they know about it, choose to do nothing, and then act surprised when Palpatine does indeed out himself as the Sith they know is in charge of the Senate.
If it was just the retcon on its own, it wouldn’t matter. I don’t mind it in a vacuum. But as events play out the way TCW chooses to tell it, it now becomes a matter of narrative consistency with the movies this show is supposed to complement and according to some people improves.

All of this happened because there was very little war in Filioni's "clone wars" compared to the old CWMMP. In old E.U logic, the Jedi couldn't even get a scent or a lead of the sith because they were busy doing the war. In the RoTS book, Yoda wanted to end the war, remove Palpatine's powers and then deal with the sith while Mace wanted to do it right away.
