Lady Stoneheart is gay. So is Ned's brother becoming an undead whatever. It's really dumb and unrealistic that there are not one but TWO people that are undead and they both happen to be Starks (Cat by marriage). Especially dumb when Bran is already a super cool magical kid.
Let's be honest the books get really stupid. This is a common problem in fantasy fiction. The author is expected to raise the stakes and make shit even cooler and it gets detached from the slow burn shit that made the first books enjoyable.
What the same thing happened in Emberverse series. Comfy books that start out with humanity returning to feudalism, a Marine becomes an unlikely warrior king, there's a SCA guy who seizes power because he's been hobbying his whole list at this shit. It's all logical and grounded. By book 6 or whatever the warrior king's kid is getting a magical sword that makes him a supergod. It's all so tiresome.
