There's no reasonable scenario where Indy would become adherent to one specific religion.
He's seen undeniable evidence of multiple conflicting pantheons' Gods being real, as well as the existence of Ancient Aliens that only further complicate the notion of what a God could be.

But he could be, and most likely is a Deist.

Going off just the movies alone it is interesting that he saw concrete proof of Hinduism being real, years before he ever saw proof of Christianity. That's actually an interesting possible thing to explore with his personal beliefs given he was raised a Christian by Sean Connery.

I always took it as him denying the existence if the artifacts themselves and not the existence of God.

Like there are Christians who believe in God but they don't think the Holy Grail or an intact Ark still exists. That said I'm with this anon >>214654566 regarding the religion.

It's bullshit that we got time travel in the last fucking movie. Like if we 'really' had to time travel, have it be about Atlantis then. And yes I know the original video game prior to the Bethesda one covers the Nazis visiting Atlantis. But no ome fucking remembers it.

The gameplay is actually really fun though so if you don't mind Nazis again as the main antagonist, it's a good game.

Or as a second choice a prequel that's focused on a younger 20ish y/o Indy. Kind of like the tv show.

He never saw evidence of the Hindu "gods" being real, just a few supernatural events that could be explained in other ways or by Christianity. Meanwhile he directly saw the effects of the Ark of the Covenant and later the Holy Grail, met a genuine crusader who's been alive for centuries and there are other implications that the Lord was aiding him through his journey.
It makes sense that he may remain as an atheist after Raiders in order to hide the trauma of not just that adventure but his childhood, but after Last Crusade he's 100% becoming Christian as it's very much a pure Christian journey with undeniable evidence of God what leads to him making up with his father and moving on. Crystal Skull and especially Diarrhea of Destiny are fake and gay and not canon

Yeah but this is a guy who was constantly world traveling, taking in other cultures, and he definitely seemed like a literal fedora-tipping Atheist in Temple of Doom.
Him mellowing and learning with age to embrace Christian tradition as he gets older is a character growth worth acknowledging.

Though also in Temple of Doom he tells Willie to stfu and eat the bugs and chilled monkey brains because it's respecting the country's culture they're currently in, so there's a part of him that always has been acquiescent.

>>214655183
I honestly completely forgot they made a 5th movie until that anon declared it noncanon. Never saw it.
Is there even any religious artifacts or faith-based moments in that one to bring in to this discussion?

>>214655275
That's what I was referring to. He saw the proof of Shiva years before he "saw" the Ark of the Covenant open up. So for a few years he might have reason to put Hinduism on more of a pedestal than Christianity in terms of being more legitimate.

>Is the game any good?
Its surprisingly not bad. Feels like a better indiana jones movie than the last two indiana jones movies.
It is fun when you've gotten near the end of the game and have buffed your health and damage up to max, and you can just ignore the stealth aspect because you're fist of the north star with a whip.
Sort of like the robocop game, where by the end your gun was so leveled up you just held down the fire button and walked towards enemies throwing an infinite wall of lead. In any other game it might annoy the shit out of me, but when you're playing an established character like Indiana or Robocop, being an unstoppable badass by the end feels earned.

Crystal Skull lost all depth that the main duology (Raiders and Crusade, Temple is just a secondary pulp adventure flick with little depth itself, though more than KotCS) had, in exchange for a weird Area 51 alien plotline that doesn't even belong in Indy stories.
>>214655314
>Is there even any religious artifacts or faith-based moments in that one to bring in to this discussion?
The movie centers around a device made by Aristotle that can travel through time. There is no faith item because that'd be offensive chuddie
>So for a few years he might have reason to put Hinduism on more of a pedestal than Christianity
He grew up with Christianity, and what he saw of Hinduism was a bloodthirsty cult of maniacs who brainwashed him, enslaved children and tore out people's hearts. He wasn't saved by other indians, he was saved by local colonial British army forces patrolling around. He would 100% see it as some demonic cult and not get close to it after that

He saw the Thuggee cult act barbaric and practice ritual sacrifice, but he also witnessed the hope and prosperity that the Sankara Stones brought to the starving villagers and what it meant to them spiritually.
The entire point of his character growth in that movie is seeing the importance those artifacts have to their respective people. He definitely doesn't have a disdain for Hinduism at the end, the Hindus were the first people in an adventure to make him respect the religious artifacts he was taking in his quests, and not just look at them with dollar signs in his eyes.

Indy calling all Hindus monsters because of one bad group that gave him a rough time would be equivalent to him calling all Christians monsters because Hitler tried stealing Christian artifacts for personal gain.

I mostly think he possibly rejected Christianity at one point specifically because he was always at odds with his Dad. If anything, he probably entered his early atheistic phase specifically to stick it to Indy Sr.

Bruh, they're all pulp adventure flicks with little depth. They're inspired by the adventure serials lucas and spielberg grew up on, just like how star wars had flash gordon in its DNA.
They're elevated by style, technique, and editing, and Ford being charismatic as fuck with a cool leather jacket, and making a fedora work.

It's not just a couple of movies its based on. The franchise is inspired on old serials Lucas was obsessed with as a kid. They're cheaply made but Spielberg has an eye for visuals so he'd go the extra mile to make the coolest shit you've ever seen.

Sure, but the Sankara Stones wouldn't make him believe. He'd be happy for the village which worship them and all but that's it, he's not involving himself with the religion that brainwashed him and almost killed his pals including a kid.
And yes his rejection of Christianity as I said before is mostly due to his childhood trauma. Last Crusade has him fix that up with help from God himself so after that I'm 300% he becomes a Christian. After all it isn't just that but his adventure with the Ark is what led to his reconciliation with Marion
>>214655664
Nah, Raiders and Crusade are far deeper and are designed to fit each other. Each deals with a specific part of the Christian faith (the Old and New Testaments), each are mainly about Indy fixing his broken past and relationships while growing as an individual, etc. There's actually a lot of parallels and it's clear Crusade was made trying to follow up Raiders. Temple meanwhile was made by Spielberg and Lucas when they were going through a real rough time in their lives with divorces and shit and it shows, it's less focused on deeper character study and is a more direct pulp action flick with darker events like the sacrifices and more exotic locales

There was always a reasonable amount of ambiguity around the artifacts in the original trilogy.
