No, it doesn't. It's literally always been what Alien was about and where it was heading. They want to use the alien morphology to create biological technology that can be grown and do things far better than regular technology. It's what Ridley wanted even and most of what is in Prometheus. It's been an idea since the 80s but other directors moved away from it since they didn't have good enough effects to do it justice.
