I've always been a Star Wars fan, but Trek always did have very beautiful ship designs.
I wish they would remake Star Trek: Legacy.

I might get back into STO but I've always wanted to play a Constitution or Galaxy class, go full Enterprise, but they always kind of suck ass if I'm not mistaken and I get convinced to get some assault cruiser or something for good DPS.

Yes it is the ship in the first film that the they escape in. The idea with Lucas is that each planet had to be instantly identifiable to the audience.
That is why tatooine looks like it does with the tech it has and naboo looks like it does with its tech.
It is all for the audience to make it easier to follow.

Technically through other exchanges. If there's one on the market you can buy like 120 keys or so on the store with money, then sell them on the market for EC, then buy the ship on there for EC. If not, you can ask in /zone or trade that you want to buy the ship for the equivalent worth of 1.5bil EC in keys. It fluctuates a lot and there's often sales for both keys and EC.
If you're patient and want to maximize it, you buy discounted EC, then you buy discounted keys, then you wait for the price of keys to return to normal, then you sell the keys. It's a long wait for those to cycle though.

I think you're imagining that. How does that deal with the Borg?

The Defiant deals with the Borg by being cheaper to produce, so you can build a fleet for fewer resources than other fleets. But then they didn't build a fleet for the Real World reason that it's a "hero" ship, which is the same reason why there are no Sovereigns on DS9.

Tbh, that was for the best. Limitations breed creativity and innovation. Smaller budget = they have to really be smart with how they spend their money. Which means better writing.

Look at what happened with Star Trek Discovery. They had the biggest budget per episode in Star Trek history (and possibly TV history). Something like $10 to $15 million dollars per episode. I bet most of it went to useless CGI slop.

Rodenberry has rules for the ships.
The bridge needed to be on top.
Warp drive needed nacelles by the pair that had at least 33% line of sight with each-other.
Just a simple rule gives everything designed some kind of practical design cohesion.

Except designers have this obsession with removing the "neck" and making the ships look like one piece. This gives them a deformed look.

A few YouTubers whine about the neck being a "weak point." These people try to gamify Star Trek and treat it like a video game. It's really annoying. They make entire videos complaining about the neck section. I honestly don't know what is wrong with these peoples' brains.

Not my fault they didn't deliver on their promise. SNW staff shouldn't have said anything.

It also doesn't help that Captain Pike's actor can't keep his mouth shut on social media and ranting about being Anti-trump. He just won't shut up. I honestly wonder if he's being paid to make these posts and do interviews. Is he that desperate to keep his job?

At least with Picard TV show, I knew it would be garbage when Patrick Stewart gave interviews before the show aired. He said he was heavily involved in the writers room and helped write ideas for Season 1 and Season 2. He kept talking about Trump and fighting conservatives. I knew it would it be garbage.

I was so happy when they said Patrick Stewart had been removed from the Writers Room in Picard Season 3. I knew it would be a massive jump in quality.

The problem with Prodigy is:

1. No one asked for it.

2. Kurtzman wanted Nickelodeon to pay for the production. So he sold it as a "kids" show to Nickelodeon. Which killed 90% of the interest Star Trek fans may have had.

Prodigy is faithful to lore... Kinda, but I have no interest in the story. I do not want to see bumbling children re-discover common Trek "mysteries" over 24 episodes.

You would think returning to the Delta Quadrant would be a huge event but Prodigy treats it like it's unimportant.

That chateau burned down when Picards family was killed in Generations. Also just the idea of "helpful" Borg is positively terrifying. How are they even going to expand their population without assimilation? People are just gonna line up and sign up to get borgified because the Borgs have "mercy" now?
