How do these guys get 2-3 years between seasons and still end up with totally mediocre stories and character development? Unironically the show's central character should have been Brenner. It's written in so easily. Each series is a different point in his career, with a unique test subject.
They took the easy way out. Not sure what I or anybody else expected, seeing as how the creators are two brothers (soon to be trannies) who had done all of nothing except work on a failed Twin Peaks knockoff produced by M. Night Shamalamadingdon. That and fucking Shawn Levy of all people was an executive producer and co-director for ST.
Shawn Levy of course who is only ever been known as a director-for-hire who has directed nothing but hot garbage comedies for failing 20th century SNL "comedians" and whose only known achievment is a singular long take sequence in S3 or S4 of Stranger Things, which was actually digitally edited and isn't a long take at all.

I watched two and a bit seasons of this show, the first and second. The first was fine, good atmosphere, decent child acting, cool premise, bit heavy on the 80s nostalgia which I don't care for but fine I guess. Second season comes around, it's literally an almost beat for beat rehash of the first. The portal just opens again or whatever and they have to seal it up again. It was just season one but worse. I tentatively watched some of season three, but the whole thing with millie's character going into some multiethnic street gang was awful, the plot and acting all degraded and that fucking dreadful little black girl having screen time made it unwatchable, so I quit.

I have no idea how people stick with shit like this for five seasons.
