>2. Physical special effects, cgi is soulless
>3. Kids played with plastic action figures from the movie and Nintendo games based on the movie and we wanted to see our toys and video games on the big screen. I took my TMNT toys to the theater and played with them while wearing my TMNT shirt and eating TMNT candy and several other kids in the theater were doing the same. Nowadays they call that autism.

It's one of the few movies where the heroes have to actually struggle to win the day. A refreshing break from pretty much every marketed to kids product ever. The usual script is flashy, fun, cool, super dudes show up and kick the enemy's ass with little to no challenge involved. And or, the challenges are solved quickly and easily. Not so with the first movie. We see the tension and the danger build up to the epic final fight. We start to worry for our heroes. Their fate starts to look bleak. Taking risks with the audience's self esteem like that is how you build to a real triumph.

What do you mean "how is it possible"? He cropped it, you fucking troglodyte. Are you such a fucking retarded zoomer that you don't know what cropping is? That an aspect ratio that isn't chinese-vision-tier boggles your mind? Or are you so fucking incomprehensibly mind-shattered by the possibility of an aspect ratio that isn't 16:9 / 16:10, that you feign stupidity to marvel at how a basic fucking image can be cropped to non-widescreen proportions? Oh, I know, you're going to play it off, pretend like you were talking about something else, other than the direct thing you were actually fucking asking about, to make sure everyone on here doesn't immediately laugh at your braindead zoomerism, but I assure, I know, we'll all know. Even on this anonymous imageboard, we will all know and remember the fucking retarded zoomer dipshit who said "HOW CAN AN IMAGE BE TALLER THAN IT IS WIDE?!" and you will live with it till the day you fucking die, so you remember to never again post something so god damn insufferably retarded on here again, wasting everyone's time just by simply reading your post, or pausing to see what trifling dumbness they may have stumbled upon when browsing through it casually, all because your parents were too busy blowing into each other's assholes like retarded clowns pretending they're inflatable balloons, to teach you the basics of the proportional relationship between an image's width and its height.

It had no budget so they had to stay close to the tone of the gritty original comics instead of a more glossy cartoon vibe.

Also the fact that the turtles have been niggerfied in the last 20 years so nothing new will be able to capture the original vibe.

Hoag wasn’t invited back because of Golden Harvest and Peter Laird. Maybe she's saving face, but the producers cut ties first, in response to the β€œproblems” with the first film. Turco looked more like the 80s cartoon, but she acted more like a sitcom mom, while Hoag was spot-on (and a total babe)

I first watched it in 2009 after years of exclusively watching 2003 series. I didn’t expect it to be particularly good, especially since I’ve already seen the stills and didn’t like how the turtle suits, Splinter and Shredder looked. Needless to say, the movie won me over. The story bearing some resemblance to 2003 first season also helped.

There was a lot of added pressure at the time to differentiate itself and not be anything like the campy 1960s series. The design limitations of that coupled with the tech they had for it at the time hindered them in a way that the Turtles didn't have problems with.
We didn't get a Batman that was capable of turning his head until Batman Begins.

That's not to say that wearing these suits was easy in the slightest. They were completely dark inside, very very hot, claustrophobic, the actors passed out from exhaustion and dehydration. The helmets were pitch black but loud as shit because of all the gyros and motors inside moving the eyes and mouth. It was all powered on FM frequency, and so when an airplane went overhead, their faces would distort and freak out. In order to do those flips and such, the power pack was removed from the shell and it left the mask in a strange neutral expression seen here >>215195528. However, that also had its drawbacks. In the scene in the park where Raph meets Casey, when you see the actor get up after being dropped inside a rubbish container and yell "Freak!", you can catch his hand reaching for his face before the scene cuts. That's because the performer broke his nose on impact on the masks internal components.

Even after all those improvements, when Christian Bale met Ben Affleck at a store prior to him taking over the role, the one and only thing he could tell him for advice was:
>"Make sure that you can piss in that suit."
I always wondered if they were ever able to do a Batman film with the grey/light blue fabric costume, unless of course we're so into grimdark realism that it wouldn't be able to be pulled off on screen and be convincing or believable.
