Honestly, this was Frank Herbert's biggest fail as an author. He has scenes where omniscient characters reminisce about events that happened in what is history to us, but almost nothing about the events in the intervening 10,000 years.
Sure, Paul compares himself to Hitler in the second book, but what about all the other baddies that must have followed? I want to hear about Admiral Zhao of the Sino-Russian League bombarding free Hinduislamic settlements on Mars in the 2350s, or the fleets of the Emir of Aldebaran redirecting a comet into Alpha Centauri in the 5700s.
