Tron 2 was great because it gave us peak Olivia wild with peak female haircut and peak outfit. Everything else about it was boring obviously (including the ost).

Tron Legacy's greatest strength (besides the music) is the visuals/the setting of the grid. Having Tron Ares takes place in the real world defeats the entire appeal of Tron.

Michael Sheen's character was great and while I love the music and Flynn's entrance, the intercutting of Sheen dancing during, and some weird choreography shots of the fighting really made light of what should be a tense fight scene. They should have had those character moments, idk NOT in the middle of the fight - or in the background/side for people to catch as a little character thing or something.

Legacy's trailer, music, the entrance to the Grid & Games, were all great moments.

Just finished Legacy for the first time after listening to the soundtrack for years.

The movie is kinda meh which is a shame. I feel like there was a lot potential here. The main character/actor especially is atrocious so that probably didn't help. Olivia Wild was very enjoyable in what little screentime she had. Wish they had implemented her more.

The best part (other than the visuals and music) was probably the flight chase.

Ares kinda felt like they wanted to do a lower budget Tron movie by setting it in a regular ass city but then almost everything interesting in the movie was just the few scenes that take place on the different grids.

Nine Inch Nails was never going to top the Legacy soundtrack. That wasn't just Daft Punk but also Joseph Trapanese and an entire symphony orchestra. Check out the Oblivion movie soundtrack to see how much of the feel of the Legacy Soundtrack came from him. Ares was decent but the lack of anything that wasn't a synthesizer really dragged it down.

The main human protagonist might as well have just been a cardboard cutout as boring as she was. It felt odd how the Dillinger kid had people questioning his every move and trying to keep him in check while the Encom CEO has a team of sycophants that immediately are on board with her decisions no questions asked.

The best part was the short raid of the Dillinger grid commandos into the Encom grid. I wish that would have been the whole movie. A war between two grids would have been neat.

If I'm going to make the effort of seeing a film theatrically, I'll always go for the 3D version, given the option. I can always watch it in 2D later, but there's generally only like a week or so opportunity to see it in 3D, and then who knows, maybe never again. It adds an extra level of entertainment, and just gives it more oomph. The 3D isn't as rich as Avatar, but it gave everything massive volume and impact.

I didn't see F1, but Ares easily beat Jurassic Rebirth. Maybe it's because critics are verbose and just don't get a film where the appeal is primarily aesthetic and visual. Liberals also want to hate it because Jared Leto has some sort of reputation, and rightwing grifters want to hate it because le woke disney putting in asian and black characters with a white villain.

Most of the film is essentially a cool looking chase with some fun twists and turns and a good soundtrack. It has as much story as it needs.
