Why? It's just a bogstandard middling remake of a classic movie. The most offensive part about it is that Jackie Earl Hayley has none of Englund's charisma.
analysis anon here. Watched chopping mall three times... not because it was so good, but because i kept falling asleep, it was very boring. i dont even wanna analyze it. the most interesting thing about it is that its anti clanker in 1986. at least it had two quite different sets of titties to look at.
Is there any actually good mall based slashers out there?

I mean, I appreciate how it changed my perspective on the world.
I used to think mid-2000s Black Christmas remake was the worst fucking thing in the world.

There was a real tension in it between making a well shot film, and hitting all the modern horror tropes to justify the budget. The random gore and jumps felt out of place.
The lipstick lesbianism and pretty women were appealing though.
I don’t think I’ve ever hated a film character as much as the lady from Bring Her Back.

>It's weird how popular he is given how much more sadomasochistic he is as a villain
i actually dont think thats weird at all. i think theres this weird cultural assumption about what horro movies are and it doesnt match what they actually function as. i think the reactonary anti horror bullshit that went on in the 90s legitimately conditioned people to think that either horror is just pro violence and far too scary to be enjoyed or its not scary but rather unsettling and has some deep overarching metaphor for us to digest. The former is why we have the nun and the latter is why we have babadook. ive been watching horror this month froma lot of different times int he last century and the overaching feeling i get is that theres a sort of catharsis to fear and i think Art the Clown serves this function quite well. his violence is unsettling and unpleasant but he does it with enough joy that we can giggle at it and throw our popcorn at the screen. we can shout "look behind you!" and yeep! in glee when the characters fail, but we also get the reversal of fortunes with the final girl, where we switch beck from rooting for the killer and root for the victim, the tension giving us the payoff of escape. Art is a jester, and he does his job well.

that being said, if you have a similar setup its simple to calculate! take the filesize of the movie, divide it by its runtime, then with that number, subtract your estimated download speed, et viola! thats the percentage you need to get to before hitting play. if its negative, that means you can start right away.
i decided to write out in words the formula for those who dislike math a lot but might want the tool. :)

Right there with you, anon. The way she gaslights the boy while favoring his sister, pressing him to open up just so she can use it against him. She was even perfectly okay with drowning him, because I guess he didn’t deserve sympathy.
The film as a whole was a solid 7/10, but she felt so believable as just a profoundly shitty person. You could make an interesting version of the movie with nothing supernatural, just her being abusive to Andy, doting on Piper, and trying to drive a wedge between them so she can get rid of him and keep her new replacement blind girl.

Anyone who likes Fright Night should enjoy the story of both movies. Robert Quarry is a top 5 vampire lead even though he's been ignored by time.
I heavily regret not buying the collector's edition blu-ray set when it was still available. I assumed it was some weird foreign flick that nobody should give a shit about, but it's actually a very good film duo that was tragically ahead of its time.
I watched it alongside Subspecies 1 and 2, and while I respect the Anon who shills those movies, that series lost both times to Count Yorga, for me.
So far, it's my favorite thing I've discovered this October

Welcome to Rick Sloan. But before you throw your blu-ray in the trash, watch The Visitants, which I think is pretty good for what it is, and takes place around Halloween.

I was watching "X" last night with my girlfriend and after the "cuck scene" she made a point about how the boyfriend is a total hypocrite prude who is somehow fine with making porn movies because it's just acting but when his girlfriend wanted to do it he acts like it's something different. I mean it kinda makes sense, why was this such a big deal in this movie, my gf literally laughed when they showed the boyfriend acting like it's the end of the world, only few people would see that tape anyway beacuse it's the before internet era.

Sorry but she has a weird looking at the camera, her eyes are too close or something. I know bette davis has way better movies in horror, but her role is legit here and she hated everybody involved in the film (as usual).

It is boring, it's all based on tension but drags out too much.
>The haunting flashbacks that Ben Rolf has about the creepy chauffeur are not based on anything in the original Marasco novel, but were based on an actual childhood experience of Dan Curtis. Curtis recalled as a young child being at his mother's funeral and seeing a chauffeur laughing outside of the funeral parlor which disturbed him deeply. He wrote the memory into the film, and the chauffeur became a most eerie character.

They are, it gets her great oddball movies. Out of the Dark is a good one for her if you figure she's too ugly for cam work
Bette hating people doesn't stop her chewing up the scenery, Burnt Offerings is one of her weakest performances (even though that is always going to be ten times anyone else's)

>Scars of Dracula

>Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell
>To The Devil A Daughter

>Countess Dracula
If you want a 70s horror anthology instead watch
>Tales That Witness Madness
>From Beyond the Grave
>Asylum (1972)
or
>Tales from the Crypt (1972)
I think the final segment of the latter was a way better adaptation of the comic than the one the TV show did

They hated each other considerebly
>Bette Davis detested Oliver Reed, refering to him as "that man" and only speaking to him when they shared onscreen dialogue. After filming, she described him as "possibly one of the most loathesome human beings I have ever had the misfortune of meeting".
but Reed is a gigachad
>During filming, Bette Davis had a food trolley sent up to her hotel room carrying up her evening meal. One day, when Oliver Reed, his stand-in Reg Prince and a few friends were returning from an evening out, when they saw the food trolley. Reed turned to Prince and said with a grin, "I bet I can ride it faster than you". Taking it turns, they would take a run and a leaping dive onto the trolley and go careering down the corridor, the remnants of Davies' meal going all over the place.

Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-a-Rama takes place in the same mall, and is about some college kids who sneak into a mall bowling alley to steal a trophy for an initiation, and unknowingly release a demon that had been sealed in the trophy. It’s cheesy, but I turn it on for late night mall comfiness occasionally. It’s got Linnea Quigley and the fat guy from Night of the Demons, if that helps at all.
