Just watched this recently. I forgot that when they eat the mushrooms or drink the tea when they first get there, Dani freaks out and starts having a bad trip when one of Christian's friends mentions "you guys are like my family." The word family triggered her into a bad trip spiral since her sister killed herself and her parents in the murder suicide

I've done mushrooms a bunch of times and this movie did an excellent job showcasing what tripping is like. The way the trees, plants, and flowers "breathed" was very accurate, along with ego dissolution when Dani started becoming one with the earth and having grass seem to grow through her feet. But thats only the visual aspect. The deep-seated fear, panic, and anxiety Dani experiences can very easily happen when a trip turns bad. Her heavy breathing and mumbled speech are also characteristic of a bad mushroom trip. On a high dose or a bad trip, communication becomes strange and foreign and talking feels "forced" if that makes sense.
