How do you feel about fan regrades/recolors of movies?
Anonymous No.215221530 >>215225425
No worse than rereleases constantly fucking up the colors themselves. I will say that there's only so much that can be done sometimes, some rereleases ie Cameron's upscales can't be undone with just color grading

Why did they change it for the blue ray??

Was there ever a fan recolor for Fury Road to make it look more natural; like the previous Mad Max films?

>piss filter is... le good?
Also, that scene was meant to be dark. Gangalf spoke Mordor and everything around went darker.

Hackson turned out to be Lucas-tier in terms of accidentally making a great trilogy and then wanting to shit on it for some reason

Late 2000s to early 2010s blu-ray releases had this blue filter fad that fucked up so many releases. Found myself downloading many BD torrents with awful blue coloring only to go back to the DVD. Good thing is that there have been many re-releases and remasters since then that fixed colors.

Unless you tell me it's going on I have no clue. I just pop in the movie and watch it and pay no attention to color saturation or hue or warmth or any of it. I've never felt I couldn't clearly see the movie I'm watching. I've never watched two different versions on two TVs side by side to note any differences.

All three of those look fine to me. I have no idea what other scenes might look like. I'm there for the story and sounds and everything else. I can see all three fine. Who cares??

"le"?

Can you stop that? I'm sure you've been told before. I really tell everyone I see.

I didn't notice the Fellowship bluray changes when I first watched it, but it's one of those things that you can't unnotice once you've noticed it

Considering Star Wars, LotR and Cameron's shit, I wonder how many movies there are now where unofficial fan edited versions are unquestionably the best version now.
Anonymous No.215225469
color grading is a relative thing, it drives me up a wall when people talk about it like it's not.
>>215221493 (OP)
like in this example, is the blue ray version the one that is color graded, or is it the OG and "restoration" that is color graded? the answer is both and neither.

>Do you like when your movies have been tampered with by some midwit with editing software and too much free time?
No, this is never warranted even if it's a slight improvement, which it barely ever is

Raw film scans of Fellowship prove this shit to be completely incorrect

I only watch the theatrical versions in 1080p on VUDU because the extended and 4k version have that shitty recoloring/upscaling.

this was an issue for blu rays v DVDs, there would be a lot of instances where youd go back to a dvd. But you can firrmly stay a 2160p remux chad these days. The worst that happens now is just 2k upscaled to 4k. I cant recall a massively fumbled transfer like Predator on blu ray
