This is placeholder dialogue. This is like if they made a character in the sequels say
>*sigh* A major villain has returned... somehow....

Christopher Lee played the same exact role in Star Wars and Lotr, which was the role of the aspiring usurper of Egypt.
Saruman represents the Pharisees in their attempt at filling Egypts void and joining Rome in the toppling of it, and Dooku represents Mark Anthony in his attempt at becoming the royal ruler of the Egyptian hive culture.

Sometimes in my head I'll imagine Obi-Wan responding to this line by saying "Well we can't both be right!". I don't know why, that's just always the line that pops into my mind for maximum amusement in a response to what Anakin says here.

It's called being able to see the historicity of theater.
Raised by Wolves, for example, tackles the era of Cleopatra picrel and how she tackled the rise of the mithras/elagabalus mystics that were not native to her Egypt.
The actor that played "Mother" also reappeared with her costar in Game of Thrones, in the specific colors of their drone roles, as an easter egg for how technology and magic is one and the same depending on the era.
Hugo Weaving, to pull yet another deliberate multi-franchise "typecast", played in Lotr, Matrix and Cloud Atlas as the "Ancestor-head" that you never know whether is in his Odin or Loki archetype, tempting and guiding his listeners.

There really isn't a good way to integrate powerful wizards with laser swords well into a galaxy filled with regular non magical people. The best the jedi could come up with is to just not give a shit and try to stay outta matters. That's where the prequel era jedi counsel fucks up. They don't follow their own rules and get super invested in the politics and wars of the era. To the point where the jedi tried to coupe the civilian government, which went against their doctrine of non interference. The ancient jedi used to be serious about that shit, to the point of sitting out the mandalorian wars. Cause they knew once they got involved in current day events as space wizards they won't be able to resist the urge to power trip. Which is what mace windu ended up going on with his Lynch mob.

Kreia is right when she said the galaxy would be a better place without the sith or the jedi. Eventually no matter how disciplined the jedi are they will always eventually fall and become sith. Which just create massive problems for everyone. It's a never ending cycle and it's fucking tiresome.

If you are a recognized law enforcement body and you find out the executive has engaged in large scale treason to increase his own power, arresting him is not a coup. Mace Windu's initial proposed remedy is a trial in the senate.
